Real Estate Appraisal Process for New York Home Buyers [Video]

In this week’s episode of the Mortgage Monday video show, hosts Jim Cardinal and Alexis Meeks discuss the real estate appraisal process for New York home buyers. It’s important to understand that under New York regulations mortgage brokers cannot communicate directly with real estate appraisers.

There are two main ways that mortgage brokers contract for real estate appraisals:

  1. Using a separate in-house department for the real estate appraisal.
  2. Hiring a 3rd party real estate appraisal firm to the work.
